Pre-K Teacher Spotlight | Elena Kelly, LAUSD

Ms. Kelly has two tablets and makes good use of the technology at her disposal, allowing her students to reap the benefits of Todo Math.

Elena Kelly teaches in a Title 1 pre-kindergarten at the 4th Street Elementary School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ms. Kelly uses Todo Math as part of her kindergarten readiness program but with limited access to tablets, she needs to be innovative in the way that she uses apps as part of her daily classroom activity.

In the video below, you will see that Ms. Kelly’s classroom consists of one iPad connected to an Elmo Document Camera, allowing her to use applications such as Todo Math to engage and share interesting content with her students. While one student may be demonstrating a skill on the iPad, the other students will follow along and practice the same skill using blocks, manipulatives, or by drawing on their whiteboards. In this way all students remain engaged in a concept while getting some of the visual and motivational benefits of the Todo Math application.

Want to try Todo Math in your Classroom?

Periodically on the Todo Math blog, we feature an educator who has used Todo Math in his or her classroom. Are you a teacher whose Todo Math story you are willing to share? Reach out to us at jack@todomath.com and we may feature you in a Teacher Spotlight!
