Name change underscores company’s commitment to meeting every child’s learning needs
Berkeley, Calif., August 10, 2015 – LocoMotive Labs is rebranding its corporate identity to Enuma as the global team expands its product line and geographic reach to advance children’s access to education.
“We started as a mission-driven company to ensure all children, especially children with special needs, have an opportunity to learn and reach their full potential. We want to re-emphasize this mission with the new name, Enuma, by accounting for each child’s needs and empowering them to succeed, without missing anybody – one by one,” says Sooinn Lee, Founder and CEO of Enuma.
The change to Enuma comes from the word enumerate, or to name one by one, which underscores the company’s commitment to meeting every child’s learning needs.
Founded in 2012 by dedicated parents of children with special needs, the company has grown to 20 employees in Berkeley, Seoul, and Beijing. This cross-cultural team adheres to the highest standards of excellence for educational game design, and has propelled titles such as Todo Math and Kid in Story into repeated App Store features and industry awards.
Todo Math, the comprehensive, game-based curriculum for Pre-K to 2nd grade has recorded 1.6 million downloads in a year with an average of 1.3 million math problems solved daily. This enthusiastic endorsement from kids, parents and teachers helped Todo Math reach #1 in the Education and Kids categories in 21 countries.
The company also developed assistive apps designed for children with special needs. Kid in Story, a visual storytelling app released in 2013, was recognized as Best Autism App by Parenting.com.
Investors from the U.S. and Asia believe in the company’s promising future and impact, and invested $5.15 million to-date. The series A was announced in February 2015 and includes Softbank Ventures Korea and TAL education group (NYSE:XRS).
We design accessible games and applications that help all children learn independently. Our name Enuma comes from the word enumerate, or to name one by one, which underscores our commitment to every child’s individual success.
